Joseph Andrew Casson

Joseph Andrew Casson, 22, of Belleville, IL, born Tuesday, April 4, 1989, in Tuscon, AZ, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO .

Joseph worked as a Sonar Man 3rd Class for the U.S. Navy. He was a Petty officer serving on active duty attached to the USS Tennessee home ported in Kings Bay, GA.  He was awarded a Global War on Terror Medal, National Defense Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. He received his Boomer Dolphin pin and was an Able Bodied Seaman.  He attended the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his:

  • Maternal Grandfather: Melvin Wilburn
  • Paternal Grandfather: David Casson Sr.

Surviving are his:

  • Father: Frank J. (Audra) Casson of Yale, OK
  • Mother: Janet M. Wilburn of Greenfield, IN
  • Brother: William E. Casson of Yale, OK
  • Sister: Elizabeth Casson of Greenfield, IN
  • Maternal Grandmother: Joan Wilburn of Belleville, IL
  • Paternal Grandmother: Jerri Casson of Belleville, IL

Memorials: In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to the donors choice.

Visitation:  Friends may call Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4 to 8pm at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Private family interment will be held  Monday, April 2, 2012 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
