Laura L. Hamann, 64, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at St. Johns Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with her family at her side.
Laura was born in Clinton, Iowa on January 3, 1946, to Ruth (Johnson) Hamann and LaVern F. Hamann.
Laura was a member of the First United Methodist Church of O'Fallon, IL and the Rob Morris Chapter 98 Order of the Eastern Star.
Laura graduated from the Dean's College (An honors program for outstanding students) at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where she was on the National Dean's List for three years and received the Ruby Bratten Award. She went on to attain her Masters in Psychology from SIUE. Her master's thesis, "Stress in Families with a Handicapped or Chronically Ill Adult" was presented at the annual Midwestern Psychological Conference in Chicago in May, 1992. She was a lifetime member of Phi Cappa Phi Sorority.
She was employed by the Social Security Administration for 17 years as an SSI Claims Representative in the Alton, IL office.
Laura was an avid sports fan following Cubs' baseball and Phil Mickleson in golf. Other favorite pastimes were reading, movies, traveling, knitting, and counted cross-stitch.
Laura touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.

Visitation: Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 9:00am to 12:00pm at First United Methodist Church of O'Fallon, IL
Funeral: Funeral Service will be held at 12:00pm at First United Methodist Church of O'Fallon, IL with Rev. Ron Dickinson officiating. Private burial will be held.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children
