M. Irene Hoff

M. Irene Hoff, nee Curneal, 86, of Lebanon, Illinois, born Friday, February 12, 1926, in Madisonville, KY, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Swansea, IL.

Irene worked as a grade school teacher for Hollywood Heights School for over thirty years. She was a member of Winstanley Baptist Church Fairview Heights IL and Retired Teachers Association.  

She was a faithful servant at Winstanley Baptist Church as a teacher of young married couples, a prayer warrior, a gifted speaker, and a compassionate friend.  Her radiant ways touched the lives of many people.

She was preceded in death by her:

  • Beloved husband for 63 years: Norman R. Hoff
  • Parents: George and Oma Lee nee Arnold Curneal
  • Brother: George Curneal


Surviving are her:

  • Son: Paul (Kim) Hoff of Lebanon, IL
  • Daughter: Janet L. Wilson of Grand Rapids, MI
  • 5 Grandchildren

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Winstanley Baptist Church, Fairview Heights, IL

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, February 13, 2012 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.  There will be no visitation on Tuesday.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Dr. Steve Phillips officiating. Private interment will be held.

    You have my prayers and sympathies. I loved living next door to Norman and Irene in Fairview Heights. They were always so kind to me and my family. I laugh everytime I think about Norman climbing the tree to trim it. Irene left to run errands. When I came home the ladder had fallen and he was stuck in the tree. I teased him about that for a long time! They are together in heaven now!
