Michael O. Cortez, 48, of O Fallon, Illinois, born Friday, October 18, 1963, in Kerrville, TX, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.

Michael worked as a refrigeration installer for restaurants and schools.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm,  Monday, December 12, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home  in Belleville, Illinois.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at  1:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home with Rev. Ken York officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.

    Mike was a great friend during our high school days. We were together a lot until I left in 1980. I never saw him since that time. However, we reconnected a while back. It was then that I learned of him illness. I am extremely sorry that Mike has passed away. I pray that the God of Peace will provide comfort to all of your hearts during this difficult time.
