Irene L. Flores

 Irene L. Flores, nee Erickson, 99, of Belleville, IL, born Saturday, July 15, 1911, in Newell, Iowa, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Saint Paul's Home in Belleville.

Mrs. Flores was a graduate of Montevideo and the University of Minnesota Schools of Nursing in 1933. She practiced nursing in Champaign-Urbana, IL until 1955. She and her husband, who was a professor in the Spanish Department at the University of Illinois, made Urbana-Champaign their home. Irene resided in Urbana-Champaign for 72 years before moving to Belleville, IL in 2009. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Urbana, belonged to the Women's Literary Club of Urbana, and the U. of I. Women's Club and Newcomers Bridge Club. She enjoyed family, travel, bridge, crossword puzzles and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her:

• Husband of 61 years: Joseph S. Flores, whom she married June 23, 1934 and who died September 17, 1995.
