Ruth E. Coartney
Ruth E. Coartney, nee Stokes, 84, of O'Fallon, Illinois, born Thursday, June 9, 1927, in Koshkonong, MO, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital.
Ruth lived most of her life in Canton, MO and was employed as a secretary at Mississippi Valley Textile Co. She also served for many years as secretary/bookkeeper at Lewis County Motor. co. in Canton. In 2008, she moved to O'Fallon, IL to be near her family. A resident of the O'Fallon Apartments on Weber Road, she made many close friends while here and enjoyed her regular bingo nights with them. She was a member of Canton Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her:
- Husband: Richard L. Coartney
- Whom she married May 21, 1948 in Pekin, IL and passed away July 29, 1993

- Son: Rick (Letitia) Coartney of O'Fallon, IL
- Granddaughter: Stephanie (Christopher) Dulaney of Shiloh, IL
- Several nephews and nieces

Services: At her request, no services will be held. Private interment of her cremated remains will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, MO.
