Janet Irene Krause

Janet Irene Krause, nee Lawder, 70, of Belleville, IL., born July 28, 1940, in Chester, IL, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Her life was defined by love and courage. She accepted Christ at age 33 and faithfully served Him. Whether it was teaching young ladies about Jesus through the Girls in Action ministry or as a speaker for the Belleville Christian Women's Club, Jan showed God's love to everyone she met.

Jan displayed tremendous courage as she fought Multiple Sclerosis for 30 years. Her favorite Bible verse was 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Chirst, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" She never complained once about her pain and has now joined Jesus as a new creation in Heaven.

Jan graduated from Marissa High School, Marissa, IL, in 1958, and from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Carbondale, IL, in 1962. She was a 3rd grade teacher at Henry Raab School, Belleville, IL. She left the teaching field and devoted her life to being the best wife and mom ever.

She was preceded in death by her:

  • Parents: Russell and Virginia, nee Walter, Lawder

She is survived by her:

  • Husband: Ronald Krause, Sr. whom she married July 7, 1962
  • Son: Ronald (Amy) Krause, Jr. of Belleville, IL
  • Daughter: Michelle (William) Barksdale of O'Fallon, IL
  • Sister: Jane Lawder of Springfield, IL
  • Brother-in-law: Norm (Ann) Krause of Belleville, IL
  • Loving grandchildren
    • Kelsey and Will Barksdale
    • Kylah and Logan Krause

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at St. Paul's Nursing Home for the loving care provided to Jan for the past 9 years. They also appreciated the kindness and medical attention from the St. Elizabeth's staff and the Hospice team.

The family has requested that contributions be made to Westview Baptist Church, Swansea, IL; St. Paul's Nursing Home, Belleville, IL and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.   

Visitition: Friends may call from 4-8pm Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. Internment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.

    I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Krause's passing. I just read it in the paper today. I will always remember the visits we had with dad in the nursing home, and being able to share in all the other residents activities. You could tell that Mrs Krause was very proud of her husband for all the things he did for her and when he would play the piano for everyone.     I will always remember Janet as a lovely, kind and memorable child, woman and classmate. I graduated from MTHS in 1959 and am very proud to say that I knew her and her immediate family.
