Edwin R Lanigan, 79, of Belleville, Il., born Friday, May 20, 1932, in St. Louis, MO, he passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Lanigan worked as a accountant for Missouri Pacific Railroad, Cotton Belt Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad and Alton Southern Railroad. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He also was a avid sport fan.

He was preceded in death by his:

• Mother: Mabel L., nee Stillman Lanigan
• Brother: Donald L. Lanigan
• Nephew: Kurtis Lanigan

Surviving are his:

• Sister: Kathleen (Donald) Dudley of Caledonia, MO
• Brother:  Robert E. (Janet) Lanigan of Smithton, IL
• Sister-in-law:  Karen Lanigan of Fairview Heights, IL

Visitation:  Friends may call from 10-12:00pm, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Fr. Kenneth York officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
