Karen S. Purkaple, nee Thomas, 62, of Belleville, IL, born Wednesday, November 12, 1947, in Glen Carbon, IL, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Purkaple worked as a teacher. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Granite City, IL, Sunday School Department Head, Missions Group Leader, Boy Scouts & Girls Scouts and involved in parent and teachers organization.

She was preceded in death by her:

• Brother: Larry Thomas
