Colonel (Retired) Marion "Myrel" Lockwood, 87, born October 17, 1921 in Carmi, IL, died Sunday February 22, 2009 at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, IL.
Mr. Lockwood enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 and spent 6 years on active duty during WWII. He was in the European Theater of Operations and spent time in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. After the war he continued in the Active Air Force Reserve for 23 years.
Mr. Lockwood worked for Southwestern Bell/Illinois Bell for 36 years. In his retirement, he and his devoted wife Ellen enjoyed traveling the world; they especially enjoyed their motor home traveling in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
He is preceded in death by:

Funeral: Service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday February 26, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Bill Pierce officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville, IL
