David B. Whiteside, 60, of Freeburg, Illinois, born Sunday, June 13, 1948, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, David went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Dave was kind, gentle and compassionate man who never knew a stranger. He loved his family, good jazz and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed fishing and bird watching, Dave always rooted for the underdog (except when it came to the Cardinals). His priorities were excellent ...people before things. When his childhood friend heard about his death, he said "They've opened the gates wide for Dave Whiteside!" Many considered him their best friend.
Dave was regarded by many to be one of the best bass players around town. He played with various bands including, Breezin'; First Light and The Facts o' Life. He was the owner of his flooring business for over 30 years. During that time he made many life-long friends.
Dave has gone home to be with the Lord at an age that is far too young for us, and he will be deeply missed by his family & friends.
