M. Joseph Murphy Sr 94, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born Friday, May 1, 1914, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in Rosewood Care Center, Swansea.
Mr. Murphy Sr. worked as a Operator and Repairman for Monsanto Chemical Company for 39 years .He was a member of Local #12 Retiree Club of Monstano, St. Mary's Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus Council 592, Moose Lodge 1221 and the Elk's Lodge #664. Joe was also a member of the Caseyville Democratic Party and the Anicient Order of Hibernians. He helped organize the Ladies Auxiliary of the K.C., charter member of the Belleville Senior Citizen's Club and was a self-proclaimed professional bingo caller.
He is preceded in death by:

- 2nd wife: Helen nee Dunne Murphy

Visitation: Friends may call 3-7 P.M., Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois. There will be a Hibernian service at 5:30pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave a 9:40am on Monday, September 22, 2008 for a 10am Mass of Christian burial at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Bill McGhee officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL
