Nancy Rayburn Deane Browning

Nancy Rayburn, Deane Browning 71, of Belleville, IL., born October 11, 1936 in Oak Park, IL., died Friday, May 9, 2008 at her home by her family.

She was a graduate of Webster Groves High School in Missouri and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, She was a vision and hearing technician for the State of Illinois, Madison County and St. Clair County Health Departments.

Mrs. Browning was a past regent of DAR Cahokia Mound Chapter, past president of PEO Sisterhood Chapter EY, and past president of Thursday Literary Club, Belleville. She was a former member of Junior Service Club of St. Clair County and the National Icarian Heritage Society. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Belleville and a former member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, East St. Louis, IL.

The family offers sincere thanks to oncologist Dr. Matthew Powell, nurse coordinator Mary Stewart RN, and the nursing staff of the Siteman Cancer Center at BJC. Nancy often said "They lifted my spirits when I was down". Thanks to BJC Hospice at Alton, to longtime family friends Diane Herr and Nancy Macklin, both of Belleville who participated in caring for Nancy, and to everyone who sent cards, prayers, and encouraging words. Nancy was truly blessed to have wonderful friends in her life.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4-8pm, Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, May 16, 2008 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL. with Rev. P. Jerry Bennett officiating. By her request cremation with private family at Bellfountaine Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
