Walter L. Berry , 82, of Belleville, Illinois, born March 31, 1926, in Arlington, KY, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Jefferson Barracks Medical Center in St Louis, MO.
Mr. Berry attended E. St. Louis Senior High School and Graduated January 1944. He attended Rankin Trade School in St. Louis, MO, under G.I. Bill of Rights and graduated 1948.
He worked at Union Electric Power, Pako Corporation of Minneapolis, MN and self-employed at Fairview Photo Service in Belleville, IL
He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, The American Legion post 58, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Freeburg Post 7074, life member of Marine Corp League Collinsville Detachment #074, Charter member of National WW II Memorial, life member of the USMC Fighting Fourth of WW II, life member of Gothic Lodge 852 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Ainad Shrine, Past Commander of Ainad Shrine Legion of Honor, Past President of Ainad Shrine Golden Agers, Past Patron of Chapter 98 O.E.S., Past President of Belleville Area Masonic High Twelve Club #35, Past President of St. Matthew UMC New Life Club, member of Charles A. Lindberg Chapter 247 National Sojourners, and Past President of McKendree Writer's Association.
Mr. Berry was a World War II Marine Corps. Veteran and an Iwo Jima Survivor.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4-8 P.M., Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. There will be a Legion of Honor walk through at 7pm Thursday October 2nd, followed by a Masonic Service at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 3, 2008 at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Slone officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Hgts, IL
