Arleen R. Nolte, nee Haertling, 82, of Millstadt, IL, born Thursday, October 9, 1941, in Belleville, IL, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Mercy South Medical Center in Saint Louis, MO.
Arleen worked as an account representative for Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages where she excelled in her talent for persuasion. During those years many of her coworkers became friends that she carried with her throughout her life. Following her career with the Yellow Pages, Arleen was fortunate to find Christ Church where she shared her optimism, kindness and compassion for others within a variety of groups and committees.
Her outgoing personality and gift of conversation brought people together. She never met a stranger and friendships meant everything to her. She was a volunteer with Explore St. Louis at Lambert Airport, a St. Louis Cardinal’s fan and the best mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend anyone could hope for.
She was preceded in death by her:

- Parents, Hugo and Elsie, nee Fiedler, Haertling

- Son, Steve (Cathy) Nolte of Waterloo, IL
- Daughter, Lori (Kenny) Schwahn of Belleville, IL

- Sydney Schwahn
- Tyler Schwahn
- Great grandchildren:

Visitation: Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Monday, October 30, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Christ Church-Chapel, 339 Frank Scott Parkway East, Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral: Funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 30, 2023, at Christ Church-Chapel in Fairview Heights, IL, with Rev. Shane Bishop officiating. Private interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Arleen was a wonderful friend over the years. Always friendly and positive. Met her many years ago when we both worked Yellow Papers on the opposite sides of the river.

I worked with Arlene at Yellow Pages and she was the sweetest, kindest woman ever and she will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
My friends and have lost a real lady that Loved God and Loved People. We will miss her as the days fly by but someday we will meet again ! I imagine she is outside the golden gate handing out her greeting hugs and that beautiful big smile as her eyes light up !

All I can say I grew up in Belleville Illinois and it saddens me even more this lady was tremendous and Ian happy to had met her and to have worked with her

Arleen was truly an amazing woman. Over the years of her coming in Chico’s. All her volunteer work was a blessing to her. She will be missed.

Arlene was a close friend of my mom Marcia Johnson and my God mother. My mom passes away in 2013. They used to work together at SWB. So sorry to see this wonderful person leave this world. I hope my mom and her are back together.
