Dr. William R. Caldwell Sr.

August 20, 1943 - October 1, 2014

U.S. Veteran

Service Date: October 5, 2014

I was sadden to hear of the death of Colonel Bill Caldwell. I was an young 18 year old airman assigned to the 778th Tactical Airlift Squadron in 1969. At that time Captain Caldwell took me under his wing - he and his wife Judy had me over for dinner several times and he helped me when I was away from home for the first time. I really admired him - he was an outstanding officer and gentleman. Bob Snyder Biloxi, Mississippi
Col William "Buddha" Caldwell, a Great American and a true Hero. I never got to fly with him, but as a young major, but I had the honor of working with him at HQ MAC/AMC. He was a great mentor and he truly took care of his airmen. The embodiment of a “TAC Airlifter.” Rest In Peace, Buddha

I am sorry for the family. Bill drove to S.I.U. with my mother in the sixties. I went to school with Bill. He was a great guy. Jerry Hawkins
