Jeanne Harmon Ferguson of Belleville, Illinois, born November 10, 1923, in Peoria, IL, passed away on September 3, 2018 after a brief illness.

Jeanne grew up on the family farm in Princeville, Illinois. She attended Rosary College in River Forest, IL for two years, taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Wyoming, IL for a year, and transferred to the University of Illinois to complete her journalism degree. She graduated with highest honors, and is listed on the University’s Bronze Tablet. She met John Ferguson while he was attending law school at Washington University. They moved to Belleville after the birth of their second child.

A long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Jeanne was actively involved in many parish activities over the years. She loved her role as a Lector at Mass, both there and at the Apartment Community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, where she lived for the past ten years. For many years, Jeanne performed in community theater, with featured roles in productions of My Fair Lady and Arsenic & Old Lace, among others.
