Joseph Ovies

Joseph Ovies, 76, of Smithton, IL, born Thursday, March 16, 1933, in East Saint Louis, IL, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center in Swansea, IL.

Mr. Ovies worked as a Stock Clerk for Ameren U.E. He drove a school bus for the O'Fallon, IL School District, was a member of Little Devil's Football Club and enjoyed going to Fairmont Park race track and gambling boats.

He is preceded in death by:

  • Parents: Frank Sr. and Mary Delores, nee Garcia, Ovies
  • Brother: Frank Ovies, Jr
He is survived by:
  • Wife: Caroline L., nee Ruhmann, Ovies of 25 loving years
  • Son: Daniel J. Ovies of Swansea, IL
  • Daughter: Lynn M. Bauman of Vale, CO
  • Sister: Marina (Roy) Lochmann of Collinsville, IL
  • Granddaughter: Elizabeth Bauman of Dahlonega, GA

Visitation: Friends may call from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. Casual attire suggested.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Rev. Ivan Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
